Scripting Down Akdong Musician #AKMU – MELTED M/V

Not a review, just trying to script down what exactly happened in the M/V. This is my picture of how things going on. Could be wrong, could be right.

 ...........

0:04 – an old man looking through the buildings with ice on his hand

0:07 – he has a lizard pet?

0:15 – everything fading out slowly, is it a flashback?

0:22 – a road trip

0:29 – another old man. He looks stressed and depressed. A box in his car, I guess he just lost his job? That explains the depressed expression on his face.

0:31 – a kid looking for a ride, an orphan just graduates from the orphanage trying to explore the world on his own. Will he give him?

0:35 – yes he does.

0:39 – the kid takes pictures. Everything that he sees look extraordinary to him. The old man doesn’t look really happy.

0:52 – the kid takes pictures of the man’s stuffs. He becomes angry. Perhaps he wants to throw those stuffs away coz it reminds him of a bad memory (about his former job, maybe). He doesn’t want them to be remembered, he just hate them.

0:56 – the man pissed, kicked the kid out of the car.

1:02 – the kid went to a small convenience store, looking for food. But he doesn’t have any money. The store keeper is counting something, maybe income. Whatever it is, it doesn’t look any good. The boy chooses banana over candy coz feeding his camera is more important. He buys couple camera films. The store keeper can’t do anything except sighing seeing those coins. Clearly he doesn’t earn much that day.

1:30 – trying to enjoy his banana while capturing moments, what does he see?

1:33 – a street entertainer: silver man. Does he really entertain? Does he get money?

1:38 – two beggars fighting over some trash. Really? What’s to be fought about? It’s just trash…

1:47 – two ladies arguing in furious mode, maybe their kids started a fight and they can’t help but defending. Each of them is strong; nobody wants to give way for each other.

1:54 – a delivery man trying to deliver a bundle of balloon in a sweltering day. Where the hell this address is?!

2:08 – a lady crying in a car, she smiles to the boy when she sees the camera. Haven’t met a single of nice people that day, the boy approaches. The lady takes him in. They talk and have fun. Finally, someone to talk to.

2:32 – another road trip, ends at the pub. The boy is asleep, too tired for the day. The lady finds another man, has fun with him, get drunk. Left the boy.

2:36 – another man looked depressed, a bartender. Maybe his shift is over but no one came to replace him. He’s been working all day, doing the work all alone, he barely gets paid. He’s tired. He doesn’t need anyone to make everything worse and the drunk lady with her man who just left without paying is no exception.

2:56 – Oh! Her son is still here. He wakes him up. The kid looks surprised. Yeah kid your mom is gone, now pay the bill. But he doesn’t care about the bill. His whole stuff is still in the car. His everything. He’s chasing, but it’s no use. They’re gone.

3:11 - … and it’s not the bartender’s business. He still gets the bill. The boy has to pay no matter what and if not, he has to deal with his anger.

3:37 – everything just happened so fast. He can’t believe it. His camera, the only friend that he has, is broken. Her heart is also broken.

3:40 – robbed and beaten up, there seems  no other right place to go than the police. He needs justice more than everything. But he finds none. Police station is another mess. They are hopeless.

4:00 – angry, wasted, depressed, desperate and alone. He walks to nowhere since he thinks nothing fits him in this world.

4:08 – the first old man appear again, his throwback gives him a lot of thought.

4:17 – he found a friend at last, or he thinks he found a friend. But again, it disappoints him. Is it really nothing in this world left for him? Why they so cold?

4:47 – another old man appears, scarier than every person he has met today. He’s gonna beat him, just like the last one. His tool is ready. It’s gonna be the end of everything.

4:50 – everything goes total the opposite. He’s nice. Pouring water, giving leftover food, fixing his camera and talk to him. Finally, he has his faith back.

...........

It’s a very beautiful, emotional and meaningful video. It got me frozen and tearing up. It captured the phenomenon just exactly like the reality. It’s painful and sad, but touching and charming at the same time. Well done.
