BON CLAY

Hi guys! How yall doin?

Kembali lagi dalam edisi Seeta ngewibu. Wkwk~~

So, gw masiiihh lanjott nonton One Piece, sekarang udah di arc Marineford. 

Gile nih ga berenti-berenti nontonnya. I thought gw akan bosan—which is iya udah berasa bosennya apalagi pas berantem-berantem. Kayak.. hadeh ga abis-abis, berantem mulu, ya namanya juga shonen~

But there’s something else about One Piece that got me hooked. The friendship. OMG so lovely. I would rather watch the Straw Hats on their slow days, with no enemies to fight with, just a group of friends chillin at the sea.

Sanji’s cooking, Robin’s reading, Zoro’s sleeping/working out, Luffy, Usopp, Chopper, Franky goofing around, Brook’s singing, Nami’s drawing world map. All in peace. ITU AJA UDAH CUKUP LOH!

So yeah, I stick around for the friendship…… and maybe a couple of characters that I found interesting…….like BON CLAY!

Gila, gw abis kelar arc Impel Down langsung ngefans gitu sama Bon-chan alias Bon Clay! Duhhhh~~

Sebenernya udah respect sama Bon Clay sejak di arc Arabasta, sejak dia 1on1 sama Sanji. Keren banget, guys. Satu dari sedikit berantem di OP yang ga gw skip tuh ya Sanji vs Bon Clay. Pas berantemnya selesai gw sampe tepuk tangan. Good game, gentlemen! Good game!

Terus si Bon Clay unique gitu kan package-nya. Kalo ngomong ada aksen lucu yang dia tambahin di setiap akhir kalimatnya. Kalo di Indo kayak logat orang timur. Kalo di South Korea kayak logat orang Busan. Hehehe~~

Penampakannya juga gemezt banget~ 

"Cowok", tapi ballerina. A proud Queer. 

Full makeup. Eyeshadow + lipstik + blush, on point!

They [trans and gender non-conforming people use 'they', 'them' and 'theirs' as personal pronouns. 'They' is considered a gender-neutral pronoun] wear ballet shoes, have wings, with 2 swans hanging like a crown, pink and purple robes with all those feathers, and medieval bottoms… so damn cute!

Character wise, awalnya jahat kan, jadi anak buahnya si Crocodile. 

Tapi setelah dikalahin Sanji, jadi baik. Setelah 1on1 itu dia mengakui kekalahannya dan sportif banget. Lalu menjadi teman the Straw Hats. Dari awal emang udah satu frekuensi sih, jadi ketika akhirnya berteman, ga heran. It’s only natural for them.

Disusul adegan dia mengorbankan diri demi menyelamatkan the Straw Hats. Kemudian menyelamatkan Luffy untuk kedua kalinya di Impel Down. With no hesitation, those guys,  fight alongside Luffy the whole time, even in their lowest state, so helpless, so weak, tetep berjuang dengan berani demi Luffy. They are  true heroes! Rispekkk!!!

I’ve never seen such an amazingly fabulous portrayal of a queer in an anime before and Bon Clay is just F.L.A.W.L.E.S.S. 

Like, Beyonce—if she’s a wibu, she’ll have a whole album named Bon Clay and that just makes sense.

I gotta thank Eiichiro Oda for creating the honorable Bon Clay. In an immensely vast and massive OP universe, full of a diverse range of races, each with unique qualities and abilities that set them apart from humans, there is this wonderful representative from the queer community, being a strong, brave, charismatic, loyal, cheerful, genuine, confident, persistent, tough, funny, adorable, full of hearts, and all in all lovable human being. 

Buat gw selaku supporter LGBTQI+, seneng banget sih ada Bon-chan di OP. From now on kita panggil dia Bon-chan ya coz they’re so adorbs!!

I mean jarang-jarang lho ada queer character yang di-portray dengan SEMPURNA. Biasanya kan cuma jadi supporting character yang cuma pelengkap doang, atau side kick. Tapi ya gitu aja kayak cuma pajangan, supaya creator-nya ticked the box. Asal punya aja queer character supaya kontennya masuk kualifikasi konten yang “woke” sesuai tuntutan jaman now. Tapi karakternya kosong dan very much forgettable. Nggak berkesan. 

Bon-chan is the epitome of all good things. Their personality is GREAT. It’s a wonderful experience to watch and get to know this character, growing from antagonist to major protagonist, from zero to hero, tirelessly fighting for something they believe and love, PROUD of their identity, BON-CHAN YOU ARE LEGEND!

Officially my favorite character after the Straw Hats. 

Buat gw Impel Down tuh arc-nya Bon-chan sih. They are the MC. Period. They totally shine there! Bon-chan is a true friend and a real G.O.A.T.

Another important thing to point out: acceptance. Bon-chan selalu diterima dengan baik di manapun. Waktu masih jadi jahat di gengnya Crocodile, lalu setelah jadi baik dan berteman dengan the Straw Hats, dia ga pernah kesulitan menemukan tempatnya because everyone accepts them. <3

I’m also stunned by the fact that Oda-sensei created this character like... 10 or 15 years ago or so? Wow, Japan is very progressive!

Oh what an experience. Bon-chan you are truly a gem. <3

I want more Bon-chan please~~ That’s a solid reason for me to keep watching OP till the very end. Please Bon-chan ada lagi. I hope he appears again, but this time as a member of the Straw Hats. They’re really that one gay best friend everyone needs. <3
