Hi, guys! how y’all doin?

So a sweet colleague of mine, Kak Angie minggu lalu mengirimkan sebuah prakarya DIY: kalender Han Ji-pyeong.

Wkwk~

Fyi, Han Ji-pyeong adalah salah satu karakter utama drakor Start-Up yang bulan Januari kemarin sempat menghebohkan jagat perkoreaan. Well, either the drama itself that was so good or Netflix’s brand editorial team yang sedemikian rupa berhasil menciptakan perang virtual #TeamJipyeong vs #TeamDosan yang nge-trigger ceciwi-ceciwi untuk ngomongin itu terus to the point jadi the talk of the town, berhari-hari trending di Twitter.

Excellent branding/marketing strategy I must say.

Anyway, meskipun demikian, gw awalnya tidak berminat untuk nonton Start-Up. Idk ya, ga minat aja. Agak skeptic gitu pas tau yang main Suzy sama Nam Joo-hyuk, pun waktu itu sama sekali ga kenal sama Kim Seon-ho. 

Terus gw juga ga suka drakor yang dipromosikan dengan lebay gitu, apalagi sampai bikin gimmick #TeamJipyeong vs #TeamDosan~ I mean, drakor mah kalo bagus ya bagus aja. Ga perlu promosi lebay, the quality will speak for itself. 

Gw lebih suka memilih drakor yang pengen gw tonton dengan teknik seperti ini, ga ikut-ikutan arus mainstream, tapi ketemu begitu aja, entah itu baca review, atau rekomendasi temen, atau hooked ketika baca sinopsisnya, whatever-lah.

That’s why gw ga mau nonton Start-Up tadinya. 

But then Kak Angie so sweet banget ngasih gw kalender bertemakan Han Ji-pyeong. Setiap bulan tuh ada quote2 HJP dari drakor Start-Up itu~ Gimana caranya gw bisa mengapresiasi kalender ini kalo gw ga ngerti konteks HJP bisa came up dengan quote2 itu??

So yeah I watch Start-Up for the sake of Kak Angie. Wkwk~

Lalu menurut gw gimana dramanya?

B-aja~ LOL~

Well sebagai orang yang 3 tahun belakangan kerja di tech industry, beberapa part cukup realistis dan relatable. Menyaksikan betapa susahnya merintis startup. Hustle culture digambarkan dengan jelas, ga tidur berhari2 demi project (tapi kok Suzy tetep cantik ya? LOL~). Nambah wawasan juga, belajar investasi, problem-solving, leadership, dan entrepreneurship. 

Those parts, okelah. Rapi storytellingnya. Tapi ga mind-blowing aja, just good.

Yang bikin betah nonton dramanya ya menang karakter Han Ji-pyeong sih menurut gw. Terlalu loveable. 

Penulisnya pakai pendekatan Disney untuk HJP. Backstory-nya diceritakan tragis dan penuh emosi, otomatis bikin sayang. Lalu berkembang jadi pria berwujud sempurna dengan karier cemerlang dan penyayang lansia. Too good to be true dan haluable. Makin ga bisa lepas dari HJP no matter how fictional he is. 

I personally like how HJP menyetir jalan cerita Start-Up. Gw ngebayangin dia sebagai master puppet yang mengendalikan 2 puppets: Dalmi sama Dosan. Apa yang terjadi sama mereka berdua literally disetir sama HJP. That being said, harusnya main cast-nya ya si Kim Seon-ho ya, Suzy sama NJH itu supporting cast.

That being said again, the #TeamJipyeong vs #TeamDosan war harusnya ga necessary. Karena jelas pemenangnya siapa. 

But okaylah, marketing gotta market. 

So yeah, storywise, Start-Up b-aja. Characterwise, karena ada HJP, lebih superior dikit. Ga mudah untuk bikin karakter yang iconic, apalagi dalam industri TV yang super-vast seperti di Korea Selatan. 

Anyway 1 lagi yang mau gw bahas soal Start-Up. Tokoh HJP dan Dosan—in real life. Keduanya menurut gw terlalu fiksi. HJP, in real life, cowok yang begitu sempurna dan punya segalanya >>> pasti otomatis fakboiii kelas kakap yang menghindari komitmen. Kerjaannya ONS dari satu swipe right ke swipe right yang lain. In between works, traveling untuk check in di club/bar hits all around the world, then take picts with celebs, rock stars, sosialita, dan royals. Man’s living his best life.

Sedangkan Nam Dosan, cowok super nerd yang cuma punya 2 orang temen (sesama nerd), ga punya kehidupan sosial, hidupnya dihabiskan di loteng kumuh having a steamy sex with his computer, awkward sama lawan jenis >>> very very likely in real life straight up pervert! Consuming hent*i or p*rnhub every night before sleep because he knows he won’t be getting any of those sexual fantasies in real life. 

It actually justified kenapa dia akhirnya memutuskan untuk menemui si Dalmi walaupun sama sekali ga kenal. Ya pervert ketika tau ada cewek cantik suka sama dia, ibarat gayung bersambutlah. Wkwkwk~~

Anyway so yeah that’s about it. I have 1 more unpopular opinion about Dalmi—that she is too pretty to represent the FHC—Female Halu Community. I mean, cewek single dengan segala kegalauan dan insecurities kehidupan, karier, dan asmara di usia 20-30 pasti punya kehaluan masing-masing. Tapi kalo di-scan, not many of them good-looking-lah. 

Not saying cewek cakep ga boleh halu, it’s just that species is very very rare. Cewek cakep akan cukup percaya diri untuk posting foto aesthetic di Instagram on daily basis—something yang cuma bisa jadi kehaluan cewek2 dengan looks average ke bawah. 

Alrighty~ mari nonton ulang Start-Up Han Ji-pyeong focus! :D

gw lagi kesambet nih kayaknya tiap minggu update blog. hahaha~

notes: postingan ini harusnya gw bikin berpuluh-puluh tahun yang lalu, tapi selalu kelupaan, sekarang mumpung momennya lagi ada, mendingan cepet2 ditulis. :))

so uhm… beberapa hari yang lalu gw mendengar kabar yang cukup mengejutkan bahwa kakak gw baru menikah.

anywaaayyy~~ so yeah itu kakak gw. in fact -along with F4~ he was my original oppa, way before bigbang and everything.

imma die-hard meteor garden stan, you know?

meteor garden (MG) is obviously the best out of three. so little budget yet so well executed, all thanks to the casting director who scouted the mighty F4: Jerry, Vic, Vanness and Ken, and also Barbie Hsu who was potraying Sanchai to perfection.

BBF and Hana Yori Dango fans can stay pressed. y’all can claim your fave to be the best, but nah~ MG is. like seriously dude, saking epic-nya MG, F4 sampe dilirik Disney dan dikontrak bikin album sama mereka! belom lagi tur keliling dunia sana sini. i wanna see lee minho struggling to get to that level of relevancy with such limited talent~ lmao~

well we talk about MG in another post, okay? if you want to debate/discuss about it, just leave some comments below and i’d reply. i always love open discussion about MG.

anyway, so Vic just recently got married. :’)

tapi kemudian gw nonton MARS dan terpukau sama aktingnya vic di sana~ he was so good~ like i found another kind of hotness gitu, referensi hotness gw bertambah karena hotness ga cuma bisa diliat dari karakter jagoan_hot blooded_manly_arogan kayak Taomingtse, tapi juga dari karakter bandel_urakan_setengah gila kayak Chen Ling. 

so yeah, aku jadi adiknya vic zhou and his marriage gives me mixed feeling. di satu pihak gw sedih karena gw forever Barbie-Vic shipper layaknya britney-justin shipper, jadi gw ga terima mereka nikah sama orang lain~~ T.T tapi di pihak lain gw seneng dia menemukan tambatan hatinya~ *tsaaah

so yeah congrats to vic-gege and his nu-pengyou (now wife) semoga segera dikarunai hen duo ke ai de haizi!

anyway, sebenernya yang mau gw omongin di postingan ini bukan itu. tapi jelas terinspirasi dari itu. yang mau gw bahas adalah status gw sebagai adiknya vic zhou dan impact-nya dalam kehidupan gw. 

icydk, i’m a huge fan of china. the country, the culture, the people, everything! i love everything about chinese. i have a lot of chinese friends whom i really embrace and respect. i went to china twice couple years ago and still willing to visit some of the province now. and i learnt chinese/mandarin language in 2008-2009 to validate my love to chinese culture. hahaha~

nah ketika gw lagi les bahasa china itu, laoshi (guru) meminta kita untuk bikin chinese name untuk dipakai di percakapan sehari-hari.

wow~ gw langsung semangat. bikin nama china tentunya ga akan sesusah bikin nama orang indo, wong cuma 3 syllables, satu udah dipake buat marga~ haha~

mulai deh gw mikir. pertama nyari marganya dulu. ga mau pake Zhang atau Wu atau Li soalnya pasaran. kemudian terpikirlah untuk menggunakan marga si kakak:

周 - Zhou.

mulai deh riset tentang marga zhou. ternyata dulunya itu nama dinasti. whoa, nice~ ada unsur turunan bangsawan gitu. terus dari segi kebahasaan zhou itu artinya thoughtful, wah gw banget nih! HAHA~ okelah fix, marganya zhou.

sekarang cari nama panggilan. gw pengen nama panggilannya ada unsur nama gw gitu, jadi antara May/See/Ta. See dibacanya Si, tapi kalo di bahasa mandarin, Si dibacanya tse, kan jadi aneh ya? 

gw bisa mempertahankan Si tapi harus diganti bentuknya jadi Xi, biar dibacanya Si. hmmm… bisa sih, nanti jadinya: Zhou Xi Ta. not bad~

but then gw baru nyadar Ta itu kalo diucapkan lumayan ga sopan, karena harus sambil menyemburkan sesuatu dari mulut~ wkwk

seriously! lo suruh temen lo yang keturunan china ngomong Ta pake aksen chinese deh, see what happens~ hahaha~

nah kan ga lucu ya misalnya ada orang mau manggil nama gw, harus ada adegan bikin banjir sekitar~ jadi gw coret opsi Ta, along with the Xi. karena kalo mereka ga sepaket rasanya ada yang salah aja gitu.

gw pun menggunakan satu-satunya opsi yang tersisa: May. kalo dichinain jadi Mai, tapi Mai yang gw tau (atau yang baru gw pelajari) artinya ‘membeli’. agak kurang menjual ya~ hahaha~

tapi May juga bisa dibaca Mei, dan ada beberapa referensi kata dalam bahasa cina yang menggunakan Mei, and somehow………… make sense!

Mei Mei (妹妹) = adik perempuan

Mei Guo (美国) = Amerika

hi, guys! how y’all doin?

i feel like making a quick post to celebrate beyonce’s birthday, hope you guys don’t mind. 

this woman contributes huge impact to my life, i love her so much, probably the second woman i love the most after my mom. :p

okay, here we go.

i’ve been knowing beyonce since she was still in destiny’s child. how did i know her existence? prolly the same way as how i knew britney, xtina, missy, etc.. that was by watching MTV. 

about destiny’s child, i had always had my eyes on their lead singer, beyonce because she’s sooo pretty. she can sing and dance pretty well too. not that i didn’t like kelly and michelle, but there was something about beyonce that was exceeded the others. something very very special, a huge potential. 

fyi, i was a big fan of britney back then, i was so britney-minded i had a tendency to compare every female acts to her. when beyonce and destiny’s child came out, i did compare them to britney. even though britney’s music was more easily accepted for my ears, i couldn’t deny that these black girls were far more talented than her. richer vocal range, better vocal technique, more unique voice color, and sounded even better if live. when destiny’s child’s started to harmonize, it gave me life every time. 

i started to like most of their songs, Independent Women, Bootylicious, Survivor, Emotion, Say My Name, I Will Survive, you name it. their songs were probably my very first introduction to R&B, which after that, became my favorite music genre of all time. 

but as much as i was rooting for destiny’s child, i couldn't really fangirl them. they never got much exposures in media. that was obviously because of the racism issues which were very sensitive back then. my fangirling activity for destiny’s child was so limited. while britney was slaying here and there, destiny’s child were come and go, often locked down and forgotten.

couple years later, this woman, beyonce stood for everyone as she went solo in 2004. she released a debut album, Dangerously In Love with major single Crazy In Love. first time I watched the music video on MTV, i was hooked. the music gave me a whole new experience. I suddenly knew every word and was singing it like it was a gospel song.

i remember i begged my mom to buy me her album (in cassette form) even though i only listened to that one particular song. long story short, i got my album and it slayed my entire existence just like that. and from that moment on, i officially became a Beyhive. 

not long after that, the internet generation happened. i started to take my fangirl activity seriously. i searched up anything about beyonce and found out many incredible things that the media failed to tell me. 

this woman had begun her career since 15 years old (that was even earlier than britney). before destiny’s child, she was put in a group called Girl’s Tyme with three other girls. the group performed in several talent shows and later signed a contract with Columbia Records. but they didn’t make it in the industry. 

then she continued with destiny’s child, struggling and hustling until their mega hit, Independent Women blew out and became the soundtrack of famous movie, Charlie’s Angel. that’s when people start to recognize them. 

that got me thinking, while britney’s career was so smooth and obstacle free, it was so hard for bey and the girls to make their name out there. 

with her debut, bey actually paved way for another black female artist to shine and have a career in pop scene. Dangerously In Love had so many accomplishments that the people started to appreciate black female artists more. following her success, rihanna debuted in 2006 and succeeded. years later, nicki minaj debuted, also succeeded. 

bey continued to releases more album. in bey’s logic, more albums means more grammy. now with 5 albums in store, she is the most nominated woman in grammy history, with a total of 20 awards and 53 nominations from the grammys for her music (as a solo artist and with destiny’s child).

one thing i like the most about bey's music is that they always evolves. she always introduces us to new sounds and new style of singing in every album. she never fails to make us desperately curious: how her new music will sound? yes, beyonce's music is always that mysterious.

in Dangerously In Love she went all R&B, dance and soul. the album was like a statement, that she was ready to compete in the industry and wanted people to recognize her talent. on second album, B’Day, she was experimenting styles like funk, hip hop and R&B that were popular during the 1970s-80s. 

then her third album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, in which she tried folk and alternative rock in some of the songs, became one of the most successful albums in her career. then we have 4, an intimate album in which she explored more of her ballad sides, shaded everyone who doubted her singing ability. lastly, her self-titled fifth album, Beyonce, is the bible of current pop music.

music aside, i love bey because she genuinely cares about her fans and always tries to make them not only happy, but also immensely proud of her. she never disappoints, always gives us the best which makes Beyhive arguably the strongest, proudest, and classiest fandom ever existed because we are stanning the greatest. 

bey is a proud feminist and isn’t afraid to express herself, from her lyrics to her fierce self-image, she makes women all over the world feel strong and motivated.

bey is one hell of a performer. her voice is no different from the recording to the live version. her dance is for nobody to try out. her stage presence, stage command and charisma never fail to bring the house down. when it comes to live performing, no one fucks with her. she kills the stage every time, creating history every fucking time.

even though she has succeeded on her own, she still has a pride in where she came from. beyonce never forgets her hometown, Houston, and the girls whom she began her career with. she always gives shoutouts to kelly and michelle whenever she performed.

unlike many celebrities, she is very private about her personal life. she’s never thirsty about fame and never let any media exposes her personal life. bey is always in complete control of how much exposure she wants to show us about her private life. if she wants us to know something, she tells us herself. her image is just the way she creates it.

most of all, i find myself highly motivated by Beyonce. i become a feminist after listening to her song and seeing her hard work makes me want to work as hard as humanly possible to the best me I can be. 

thank you, beyonce. and happy birthday. keep slaying.

Everything I Wanna Say About BigBang’s Concert: Part 7 – FINALE

Ini review beneran jadi Harry Potter ya, ada 7!

Now we’re already at ENCORE STAGE!

Encore selalu jadi momen paling ditunggu sekaligus paling menyedihkan~ Usually at a kpop concert, there are so many things will happen during encore stage, mostly interaction between the idols and fans. Kalo idol mau fans service, atau fans mau ngasih hadiah, encore adalah saat yang paling tepat.

Waktu 2NE1 encore, mereka turun dari panggung dan surprise surprise out of nowhere muncul dari belakang area festival buat berinteraksi langsung sama fans. *I got to shake Minzy’s hand twice, Bomie’s once~ T.T* 

Waktu Alive Tour 2012, Seungri menggunakan momen encore untuk mengumpulkan keluarganya.

Untuk MADE Tour, gw ga bener2 merasakan fans service BigBang selama encore. Entah ya, mungkin karena panggung kekecilan, jadi ruang gerak mereka terbatas buat fans service, ga bisa menjangkau fans di bagian belakang. Mungkin juga karena posisi gw jauh dari panggung, atau karena gw fokus ngeliatin Seungri doang, jadi ga liat member yang lain ngapain selama encore~

Sebenernya area VIP tuh kebelah dua, terus belahannya dikosongin gitu, sekitar 1 meter lebarnya. Dugaan gw sih itu buat BigBang turun terus berinteraksi sama VIP. Tapi kata Kak Cia yang berdiri di VIP section, gara2 banyak yang pingsan, area itu malah jadi tempat buat menampung fans yang pingsan itu, soalnya mereka ga bisa dibawa keluar hall saking penuhnya itu tempat~

Seungri sendiri ga terlalu hyper selama encore, paling dadah2 banci doang. Yang notable sih pas BB ngenalin band sama dancer, ini anak saking bancinya dia nyamperin setiap band member dan dancer yang lagi diperkenalkan BIAR ON CAM!

Ga banyak yang menangkap momen nista bersejarah ini lewat fancam. Tapi gw berhasil menemukan satu fancam yang slightly menunjukkannya.

Anyway, untuk encore mereka membawakan 2 lagu: We Like 2 Party (template) dan Bang Bang Bang (lagu pilihan). Selidik punya selidik harusnya mereka bawain Hands Up juga, tapi karena waktu udah mepet, mereka harus ngejar flight, akhirnya di-cut. T.T

Not gonna say I’m okay, Hands Up juga salah satu lagu favorit gw~ Untung penampilan mereka untuk Bang Bang Bang ga mengecewakan. I really cherished the moment, ngeluarin semua sisa energi yang gw punya untuk stage ini. Koreo awal Bang Bang Bang yang ga sempet gw lakukan di opening stage, akhirnya kesampean juga dilakukan di encore.

To be honest, menurut gw Bang Bang Bang di encore jauh lebih hidup daripada di opening, ya nggak sih? Mungkin too much feels kali ya? Karena konser mau udahan~

Anyway, so yeah that’s the end of MADE in Jakarta. Aaaaawww~~~ :"(((

Rasanya kurang lebih sama kayak setelah nonton 2NE1 dan YGFC. Campur aduk. Too happy, feeling sooooo gooooood, stress relieving, detoxificating, ecstatic, I really don’t want it to end~ But at the same time it’s heartbreaking to realize that it will probably be the last time I’m gonna see them as BigBang~ T.T

Yak! Edisi susah move on pun officially dimulai! LOL~

Oiya, ada yang mau sekalian gw omongin juga mumpung masih di postingan BigBang.

You know, it breaks my heart when I typed “BigBang MADE Tour Jakarta Review” on Google, the ones that show up are those who made a review about the promoter, more specifically harsh critics about them and their terrible and unprofessional service. Not review on BigBang’s performance and the concert itself.

Gw mengerti kekecewaan dan kemarahan fans2 itu. Banyak temen gw yang jadi korban juga. Gw denger cerita langsung dari mereka dan semuanya parah2. Sangat wajar kalo mereka complain.

Gw sendiri ga bener2 merasakan ulah promotor itu. Seriously, selain Pink area kepenuhan yang membuat gw ga bisa gerak dan mic Seungri mati waktu nyanyi Loser, ga ada hal lain yang gw keluhkan. 

Well it will be better if they had larger stage. But hey, dengan stage kecil pun BigBang tetep bisa tampil maksimal. So yeah, it’s really okay for me. My experience of watching MADE in Jakarta went sooo smoothly. Thank God for that. 

But yeah, gw sedih melihat kenyataan bahwa rasa kesel orang2 terhadap promotor mengalahkan rasa senang mereka setelah ketemu BigBang. Jadi kebanyakan review isinya marah2, karena konser itu beneran jadi bad experience buat mereka~

Can’t blame them of course. If I were in their shoes, this review wouldn’t be this fun either.

So yeah, dear promoter, I hope that in the future, something like this won’t ever happen again. A concert is supposed to be a magical and precious moment for both fans and idols, so please give them what they deserve. You have one job. 

And for the fans, a little tip for you if someday the promoter fucked up again: just focus on your idol or the music or whatever reason for you to come at the first place. Do NOT give a damn thing about the service. Do not let anything ruin the fun. If shit happened, solve it, make a decision, take control, do something! No matter what happened, make sure you still get the best experience. 

Okay. I dunno how I’m supposed to end this post. Haha~ It’s been long journey.  Seven parts in three fucking weeks. That is some dedication. Just wow. LOL~

On scale of 1 to 10, how awesome the concert was?

How’s the audience?

They were awesome too! It felt like being in the crowd of famous music festival! Indo VIPs are so sick, so energetic, which is where I got most of my energy from. They didn’t seem to get tired, that kept me going. Even GD and Taeyang called it Best Show Ever.

Were Indo VIPs mostly teenage fangirls?

Nope. They were mixed. The comparison between male and female audience was 70:30, 30 be the boys. They were all ages, if you watch the documentaries, you’ll see how varies the audience was, age wise. There are teenagers, young adults, adults, kids with their parents, etc.. I think mostly young adults, those who are already stick with BigBang since 9 years ago. 

Was the ticket price worth it?

For me, who was in Pink section, yes. Totally worth it. You wouldn't get the same answer if you ask those who bought the other section though.

Did you take picture of the boys?? Will you post it??

No, I didn't. Too bad I had no time~ T.T

I was too focus on the stage. The only picture I took was Seungri, but that didn't look good, because of poor camera quality, me standing too far from the stage, and intense movement of the objects. But you know, it's good actually, it means it was a quality concert. A friend of mine once said that you're not enjoying the concert to the fullest if you still have time to take picture/video.

How did you survive Seungri seriously?

I didn’t. XD

So, are you officially a VIP now???

Hahaha. No. I’m still a Blackjack. I’m still sober after watching MADE, you know~ I still can talk, joke around, laugh, sing, eat, play with my friends, take selfies, etc.. Every feels is still controllable. Last year after watching AON, I was completely dazed and zoned out. Couldn’t even function normally. Hehe~

If they come again, will you watch them?

Of course. No doubt. :)
